About IDA

Founded in 1946, the Indian Dental Association (IDA) is the leading voice of the dental profession in India and has been at the forefront of advancing oral health for nearly eight decades. With a strong network of 36 State Branches and over 450 Local Branches, IDA represents and supports dental professionals across the country while working towards a common goal—better oral health for every citizen.

IDA plays a vital role in promoting oral health awareness, strengthening professional standards, and supporting the Government of India's vision of achieving optimal oral health for all by 2030. Through continuing education programmes, scientific initiatives, and academic collaborations, the Association helps dental professionals stay at the cutting edge of clinical practice and innovation.

A significant milestone in IDA's journey is the establishment of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Research and Incubation Centre in Mumbai. The centre serves as a hub for research, innovation, and technological advancement while also providing free dental care to underserved communities, reflecting IDA's commitment to making quality oral healthcare accessible to all.

Over the years, IDA has spearheaded several impactful national initiatives, including the Oral Cancer Foundation, Tobacco Intervention Initiative, Child Dental Centre, National Oral Health Programme, and Swachh Mukh Abhiyaan. These programmes have helped improve awareness, prevention, and access to oral healthcare across India, positively impacting millions of lives.

Today, IDA continues to champion excellence in dentistry, foster innovation, and strengthen India's contribution to the global oral health community. As host of the FDI World Dental Congress 2027, IDA proudly welcomes the world to India for a celebration of knowledge, collaboration, and the future of oral healthcare.
